In a city with dispensaries as common as coffee shops, Denver is undoubtedly the epicenter of the legal marijuana movement. And if you’re in the business of bud, it’s a good place to be: Colorado accounted for a third of the country’s 2.7 billion dollar marijuana market last year.

But with being America’s fastest growing industry, comes growing pains. Marijuana is still illegal on the federal level, which has led to conflicting state laws, restrictive regulations, and endless problems for cash-only marijuana business owners and operators.

VICE News meets the investors cashing in on the green rush and finds out how fractured marijuana laws are causing the American market to miss out.

diego gaud says:

this is so fucking stupid . let me get this straight. even though weed is legal. the banks dont want the money from it because its marijuana. and we have to have security to protect all the businesses. WHY DONT WE JUST FULLY MAKE IT LEGAL AND DO WHAT WE WANT WITH IT. we wouldnt even really have to pay for it . it would be growing in our forests. in our homes. everywhere. then it wouldnt even be a matter of having money to smoke weed. you can just smoke it. where ever. whenever. i thought weed was legal but this is still kinda bullshit. its not much of a difference at all really im stil soking just as much as i was before. and i hae never been arrested for marijuana. so like wtf.

Jose Salazar says:

I don't see anything wrong in paying with cash. It's better. I know of several farm contractors in California that pay everything in cash, they pay employees in cash & or sale transactions also in cash. Ranchers pay the contractors in cash well most of them. Ranchers receive cash for their crop from international investors or companies that buy the product (grape) for global resale.

So, basically the government is getting the money and "we the people" and our communities are left out. legalize, tax it, use money to have free education k-college in the U.S. or free healthcare for everyone

Tyler Barker says:

I lived in Denver for over a year and I'm appalled that the rest of the country is not taking it's lead. The money generated from a harmless crop has been substantial and proves wrong anybody who was afraid of legalizing cannabis in the first place. I moved back to Texas due to financial hardships and surprisingly, we have a governor in a wheelchair who can't recognize the benefits this cash crop carries. It's baffling to me and millions of others.

Cody Dale says:

I live in the Springs. It's a mess in schools. If you're old enough, smoke it. But if you're not, it's just a waste of time. Denver, the Springs, places as far South as Florence are getting hit with it, and it stinks, literally. Commercials say education will improve, schools will get money and new testing procedures. That's straight bull, it's getting kids high and dead, and the worst part is, weed is so untested that people like me have no idea what Coloradoans will be like a generation from now. A spliff of weed is as common as a cigarette in my school, and it's more encouraged, as it is actually quite safer. I watched a kid smoke a joint of weed off campus one day, walk back to class high, and nobody did anything. This is ruining our city.

Jeff Neely says:

No, Guns in Colorado but Drugs is legal?
WHAT???
You smoking something?????

Boy do i feel safe!

article on alfalfa The noodle-like sprouts are salad and sandwich staples, while alfalfa leaves and flowers can be made into herbal tea and drunk up to three times a day. Traditionally, the herb was used to kick-start the appetite and ease indigestion, while alfalfa seeds were made into a paste for treating insect bites and boils.
Beyond sandwiches and salads
As an herbal supplement, alfalfa is available in capsule, powder, tablet and liquid extract form. The herb is rich in protein as well as vitamins A, C and K. It is a nutritious whole food, packed with antioxidants and minerals including magnesium, calcium and iron. Heavy in phytoestrogens, alfalfa is used in the treatment of menopause symptoms to combat estrogen deficiency. It is also a popular tonic for flushing the body of toxins.
Using the whole herb
Different parts of the alfalfa plant have varied uses and effects. In traditional Chinese medicine, fresh alfalfa juice is used to treat kidney stones, while the plant root is said to control fevers and improve jaundice. Alfalfa leaves contain saponin – a compound that might have a cholesterol-lowering effect.
